Louis Cavadini

Hello friends! Here's a short story on how I came to be at our wonderful hospital. I was born on the east coast in New Haven, CT. After moving around a bit, my family settled down in South Bend, IN (the crossroads of America) when I was five years old. My six siblings and I grew up south of the city and eventually all attended high school at James Whitcomb Riley on the south side. I completed my undergraduate B.A. degree in theology, with a minor in pre-professional studies, at the University of Notre Dame and was lucky enough to be a member of the varsity Men's Swimming team. After matriculation I stayed in South Bend a bit longer to complete my scientific education by taking more courses at IUSB. Finally, I packed my bags and left for Erie, PA to enroll in medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). I chose this school for its unique problem-based learning pathway, focus on primary care, and because the city's atmosphere is much like home (aka lake-effect snow). During my third year of schooling, I was able to rotate at St. Joe's for 4 short weeks and was easily impressed by the courtesy, professionalism, and support provided by the hospital staff and residency program. Having now completed my medical degree, I am overjoyed at the opportunity to return to my home town and further my education while becoming a member of the community as a physician and friend. Outside of medicine I enjoy gardening, swimming, reading, mowing my parent's lawn, and keeping our dog Carl in-line. Please don't hesitate to say "hello"!
